Video says most of it, listen for the distinctive (yet obvious) rhythmic sound, that gets louder, but more random, when rpms are changed. I figure it'd be best to ask the Pro's before I attempt to mess around with that moody bitch that is my Z :) Youtube of my Z32 with "marbles" in the Top end Might be a stuck/collapsed lifter I am thinking, perhaps retainer, or worse. Sounds like The driver's side bank, or cylinder 4. JWT 500 cams, with HD springs for top end mods. Rebuild was done about 5000 Miles ago with sport 700's, AEM EMS, Nismo 740's, etc.
Answers to questions you might ask:
- Yes I have a clutch fan. The car was run for very short period without it. I took it off thinking it was hitting the oil cooler fitting on my SPL Rad. - Doesn't seem like VTC related, although I stated in the video, that was just panicked speculation :) - Oil is full - Car was tuned about 300 miles ago - Everything else is mechanically sound. All work performed by me The car has been fantastic up until I heard this. I've had problems throughout the resto process, but nothing I couldn't fix without issue, runs great on the new tune with MAP conversion/ AEM EMS. I can deal with almost everything, but "noises" are more foreign to me.
Thanks in Advance,
